What is S Resort El Nido?

Eight forty in the morning. Flip-flops, a dry bag, coffee still going, sunscreen not quite rubbed in.

You leave the lobby, turn onto Rizal Street past the sari-sari store already open and the tricycles idling, and five minutes later you are standing on the sand where your boat is waiting with its outriggers in the shallows. No van. No 7:45 pickup that turns up at 8:20. No group of strangers being collected from four other hotels first.

That five-minute walk is the entire argument for staying here, and after three days of doing it you will understand why experienced El Nido travelers care about location more than almost anything else.

S Resort has been comprehensively renovated, and it sits right in the walkable core of town with rooms noticeably bigger than the local average — several of them looking straight out at the water — at a rate that does not match the position.

Where is S Resort located in El Nido?

The entrance on Rizal Street — two minutes on foot from the main beach.

On Rizal Street in Barangay Buena Suerte, which is about as central as El Nido gets.

The town is compact enough that everything a visitor needs sits within a few blocks: the boats leave the main beach around 9:00 AM, the vans for Puerto Princesa and Port Barton go from the terminal, and the dive shops, ATMs, market, and restaurants are all inside the same short radius.

There is one thing worth understanding about El Nido that guidebooks underplay. Hotels outside town solve a transport problem every single morning — the arranged pickup, the timing, the “will it actually come.” Staying central means that problem does not exist for you. The free shuttle to Lio Beach also stops about 250 meters away if you want a day up there.

What are the rooms like at S Resort?

Mountain View rooms look straight out at the limestone behind the town.

The renovation is the story, and the size is what you notice first.

Deluxe rooms run around 30 square meters in king and twin layouts, with a choice of sea view or mountain view, and several with balconies or terraces. Come up to the Executive Suite with Ocean View and you are at roughly 50 square meters; there is a Presidential Suite with Sea View above that for the best aspect in the building.

For context: most El Nido rooms in this bracket are 18 to 22 square meters. The difference announces itself the moment two people open two suitcases at the same time — which, if you have ever tried it in a small island room, you will recognize as a genuine quality-of-life issue.

What facilities does S Resort have?

The restaurant terrace — red lanterns, open sides, and the bay in front of you.

A sun terrace for the hour before dinner. A lift — rarer in El Nido than you would expect, and a real mercy on day one with luggage. A 24-hour front desk, concierge, outdoor seating, laundry, safety deposit boxes, and free WiFi throughout.

Breakfast is à la carte with Asian options, and the kitchen will work around dietary requirements if you tell them.

What can you do around El Nido town?

  • On the water: island hopping Tours A, B, C, and D leave the main beach around 9:00 AM and are back by 5:00 PM
  • On land: the Taraw Cliff via ferrata goes up the rock face directly behind town; the Canopy Walk and Las Cabañas zipline are a short ride away
  • Nearby beaches: Papaya Beach is about 600 meters; Maremegmeg (Vanilla Beach) is where everyone goes for sunset
  • Along the coast: Maremegmeg, Lio, Nacpan, and Duli are all reachable by shuttle or tricycle — full comparison in our guide to getting around El Nido
  • For dinner: Ver De for plant-based cooking, Piece of Sky for a rooftop drink, Oceanview for Chinese with a local turn — all minutes away

How do you get to S Resort in El Nido?

S Resort is about ten minutes from Lio Airport, and the hotel runs a free shuttle.

Option 1: Fly direct to Lio Airport (fastest)

RouteAirportApprox. flight time
Clark → El NidoClark International (CRK)~1 hr 35 min
Cebu → El NidoMactan-Cebu International (CEB)~1 hr 45 min

Flights are operated by Cebgo, the Cebu Pacific subsidiary that now runs the former AirSWIFT routes. Since 29 March 2026 there is no direct Manila–El Nido flight — the route operates as Clark–El Nido.

Option 2: Fly to Puerto Princesa, then travel overland

Fly into Puerto Princesa (PPS), then north by road for five to six hours. Buses, shared vans, and private transfers run it daily, and it is cheaper and far more frequent than flying into Lio.

Booking the overland leg. Three ways to cover Puerto Princesa to El Nido, depending on comfort and budget:

OptionWhat it suitsBook it
Cherry Bus air-conditioned coachBest value on the route. Reclining seats, luggage hold, fixed daily departures, and the most comfortable way to do five hours on Palawan roadsCheck Cherry Bus schedules and fares
Shared vanFaster and more frequent, but tighter on space and luggageCompare van seats and times
Private transferDoor to door on your own scheduleArrange a private transfer

If you are weighing coach against van, the coach is the one we point most travelers to. The seats recline properly, there is a luggage hold rather than bags on your lap, and the extra thirty or forty minutes buys you an arrival where you can still face dinner.

Option 3: Ferry from Coron

Fast-craft ferries from Coron reach El Nido in about 3.5 hours. The port is a short ride from the hotel. Check ferry schedules and book.

Moving on from El Nido

Most people pair El Nido with somewhere else, and the connections are straightforward once you know what runs.

RouteHowBook it
El Nido → CoronFast-craft ferry, ~3.5 hrsFerry schedules

Book the Coron ferry ahead in high season — it sells out, and the alternative is losing a day.

If your El Nido trip is mostly going to happen on the water — three or four tour days, sunset drinks, an early ferry to Coron at the end — then what you need from a hotel is simple. Comfortable, recently renovated, and five minutes from the boat. This does all three, and leaves the rest of your budget for the part you came for.
