What is Z Garden Hotel El Nido?

El Nido town at nine in the evening is a wonderful place to be. Smoke off the grills along the beach road, somebody’s cover band two streets over, tricycles running, the whole place lit up and loud.

El Nido town at half past one in the morning, from a bed you have to be out of by seven, is a different experience entirely.

That gap is the problem most central hotels never solve, and it is the entire reason Z Garden exists in the form it does. Step off the street, through the door, and the noise drops away — into a small, modern, garden-planted property built deliberately so that everything is two minutes away and none of it follows you home. The brand line is find your zen, which in hotel copy usually means nothing. Here the building actually does it.

Be clear-eyed about the size: these are compact rooms, and that is the honest trade for this address at this rate. What they are is immaculate, well finished, and restful — which after a day of sun, salt and boat engines turns out to be the thing that matters.

Ask for an upper-floor sea view room when you book. They are 17 square meters like the garden superiors, and they look out over the bay.

Where is Z Garden located in El Nido?

A few steps from El Nido Beach — which also means a few steps from where the island hopping boats leave, and a short walk from the van terminal. Cafés, restaurants, and shops are a block or two in every direction. Lio Airport is about seven kilometers away, with a paid shuttle running both ways.

Small hotels live or die on the practical things, and this one gets them right. Rooms are refreshed daily. Luggage storage covers the awkward gap between a 12:00 PM checkout and an evening flight, which given El Nido’s schedule you will probably need. Full-day security and a 24-hour front desk mean someone is always there when you come back late or leave early.

What can you do around Z Garden?

Everything, more or less, from the front door.

  • On the water: Tours A, B, C, and D leave the town beach around 9:00 AM and return by 5:00 PM. Tour A is the famous lagoons, Tour C the hidden beaches and Matinloc Shrine, Tour D the quieter Cadlao loop
  • On land: the Taraw Cliff via ferrata, the Canopy Walk, and the Las Cabañas zipline — all bookable at reception
  • Along the coast: Nacpan, Lio, and Maremegmeg are all within reach for a day trip — full comparison in our guide to getting around El Nido
  • For eating and drinking: Ver De for plant-based, Piece of Sky for the rooftop, Oceanview for Chinese, plus Grounded for specialty coffee and Janu Café for hand-drip and Japanese teas
  • For recovery: the Oriental Spa for Asian-inspired massage, and yoga in town and out at Lio

How do you get to Z Garden Hotel?

Z Garden is roughly seven kilometers from Lio Airport, with a paid shuttle available.

Option 1: Fly direct to Lio Airport (fastest)

RouteAirportApprox. flight time
Clark → El NidoClark International (CRK)~1 hr 35 min
Cebu → El NidoMactan-Cebu International (CEB)~1 hr 45 min

Flights are operated by Cebgo, the Cebu Pacific subsidiary that now runs the former AirSWIFT routes. Since 29 March 2026 there is no direct Manila–El Nido flight — the route operates as Clark–El Nido.

Option 2: Fly to Puerto Princesa, then travel overland

Fly into Puerto Princesa (PPS) and continue north for five to six hours by road via daily bus, shared van, or private transfer.

Booking the overland leg. Three ways to cover Puerto Princesa to El Nido, depending on comfort and budget:

OptionWhat it suitsBook it
Cherry Bus air-conditioned coachBest value on the route. Reclining seats, luggage hold, fixed daily departures, and the most comfortable way to do five hours on Palawan roadsCheck Cherry Bus schedules and fares
Shared vanFaster and more frequent, but tighter on space and luggageCompare van seats and times
Private transferDoor to door on your own scheduleArrange a private transfer

If you are weighing coach against van, the coach is the one we point most travelers to. The seats recline properly, there is a luggage hold rather than bags on your lap, and the extra thirty or forty minutes buys you an arrival where you can still face dinner.

Option 3: Ferry from Coron

Fast-craft ferries from Coron reach El Nido in about 3.5 hours. The port is a short ride from the hotel. Check ferry schedules and book.

Moving on from El Nido

Most people pair El Nido with somewhere else, and the connections are straightforward once you know what runs.

RouteHowBook it
El Nido → CoronFast-craft ferry, ~3.5 hrsFerry schedules
El Nido → Puerto PrincesaCherry Bus coach or shared vanCoach fares · Van seats

Book the Coron ferry ahead in high season — it sells out, and the alternative is losing a day.
